Public Workshop #1 Summary

A Public Workshop was held on August 24, 2022 to initiate public input on the County Road (CR) 486 Interchange Management Area (IMA). The workshop’s purpose was to garner input from the community on what development they envision along the CR 486 IMA Study Area, which will likely include property both north and south of the corridor from CR 491 to the Duke Utility Easement.

The meeting was an Open House format where attendees could come and go at their own convenience. There were several small-group stations to discuss various components of the built environment, including architecture, site design, landscaping, signage, and land uses. Attendees were encouraged to place notes on maps and image boards to share their thoughts on desirable and non-desirable development characteristics and land uses.

The public workshop was well attended with an estimated 150 participants, consisting of residents, business owners, and property owners within the Study Area, as well as others that share an interest in how the corridor develops in the future. Their input has been documented and will be instrumental in forming Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code (LDC) amendments that will guide future growth along the CR 486 corridor.
